Course Objective:

  1. To impart the students understanding about the method of design and apply the method to design bolts, nuts, keys and screw jack.
  2. To equip the student with an idea to solve problems related to design of shafts and couplings.
  3. To provide basic knowledge about the functions of bearings, cams and follower and solve problems related to design of bearings.
  4. To facilitate the students an understanding about the functions of governor and flywheel and solve the problems related to design of governors and flywheels.
  5. To impart the students an understanding of the functions of belt, rope and chain drives and apply the knowledge to solve the problems related to design of belt, rope and chain drives.
  6. Realise spur gear nomenclature and apply the knowledge to solve the problems related to gear trains.
